The Porsche Macan is now available as an electric vehicle. It's more expensive but also more powerful. Is the switch from a traditional engine worth it? Find out in our review. You can check out the original review on CarExpert, our partner's website.

Pros
  • Incredible speed and control

  • Many customization options

  • More space in the back seats

Cons
  • Much more expensive than the previous model

  • Weighs about 500kg more than the older version

  • Encountered a suspension issue on the first test car

Porsche sells a lot of these cars in Australia, so switching from a regular gas engine to an all-electric system is quite a big and risky change.

As more Australians choose electric vehicles each year, Porsche hopes they will be eager to try the brand-new 2025 Porsche Macan Electric. It's built on a new electric platform that it shares with Audi, making it Porsche’s second electric model after the Taycan.

We had the opportunity to drive the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. These are currently the only models available, but Porsche plans to introduce a more affordable model and possibly a GTS version in the near future.

Curious how the Porsche Macan measures up?
Check out a detailed comparison of the Porsche Macan with other similarly sized vehicles. Ineos Grenadier, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-9, Mitsubishi Pajero, Sport SsangYong Rexton.
